Football recruits who are invited to take part in the Elite 11 passing competition are given the opportunity because of their high-level quarterback-related skills. Mostly, those are passing skills, with a few bonus points thrown in for a player’s mobility. This skill skips those categories and lands squarely in the realm of “esoteric”, but it’s still pretty magical.

That’s Texas quarterback recruit Shane Buechele at Elite 11 skillfully spider dribbling a football between his legs. Yes, that’s an advanced basketball drill being performed with a football, which would seem to require no small amount of hand-eye coordination, not to mention tireless, tedious practice.

Will this particular trait help Buechele shine at the Elite 11 Camp? No. Will it help him win a starting job at Texas? Surely not. Will it win him plenty of admirers? You betcha.

For that matter, you can count us as admirer No. 1. That’s the first time we’ve seen a football spider dribble, and we certainly won’t hold our breath to see it again anytime soon.
