VIDEO: Florida State WR commit D.J. Matthews completely tore apart the secondary at the Jimbo Fisher Camp

It might be time to seriously consider whether rising junior wide receiver D.J. Matthews is getting enough respect.

Matthews. a top-10 wide receiver recruit in the Class of 2017 and a top-30 overall prospect for the class, is a Florida State commit, so it was natural that he would attend FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher’s summer camp. What was less obvious was that he would dominate as he did, proving completely indefensible during passing drills against some of the nation’s fellow top prospects.

The word indefensible is hardly a stretch, too. As you can see in all the videos shared here by Twitter user Chief Osceola Rhodes (anyone think he’s a ‘Noles fan?), the First Coast star alternated between blowing right by defenders,  edging past them with perfect footwork and fierce cuts, simple hard cuts, or ridiculous out routes.

Of course, we have no idea whether Matthews’ skill will continue to grow, or if collegiate defenders will force him to develop even greater root skills. It’s going to be hard to top footwork like that, which should have Seminoles fans excited about Matthews contributing quickly after he arrives in Tallahassee for the 2017 season.
