LSU defensive back commitment Kevin Toliver II was injured during a nationally televised game between his Trinity Christian Academy from Jacksonville, Florida and IMG Academy.
According to the Bradenton Herald, Toliver was injured in the first half of IMG’s 28-7 victory, which aired live on ESPNU. It was not made clear if Toliver was hurt while lining up on defense or as a quarterback, as he often does with for the Conquerors in the Wildcat formation.
247 Sports’s LSU affiliate reported that the injury looked potentially serious, though 247 was told by Toliver’s father that initial tests determined that the the senior’s knee was only hyperextended, and there were no readily apparent ligament tears or significant swelling early Friday morning.
If that diagnosis holds, Toliver, and Trinity Christian and LSU fans alike, can all breathe a little bit easier. It’s still too early to have a firm grasp of anticipated recovery time, but Toliver avoiding a serious injury should be good news enough following a dispiriting loss.
