When Adam McLean went down injured during Quince Orchard’s game against Sherwood, the nation lost more than just a top defensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2015. America lost the best prep sports haircut, too. McLean confirmed that he suffered a right knee injury that would require surgery, though he refrained from specifying more about precisely what his injury was. However head coach John Kelley confirmed McLean will miss the remainder of the season, as reported by the Washington Post.
As for the hair, OK, perhaps the term “best” is a bit presumptive here. Some people may not appreciate the fine art involved in delicately carving words and logos into hair. If you do appreciate that sort of thing, well, McLean is definitely the DT for you.
In case you forgot, McLean announced his commitment to Penn State at Nike’s The Opening this summer by having his barber shave “Penn State” and the Nittany Lions logo into the back of his head. The final result was magical, both for its accuracy and the way it genuinely, somehow didn’t feel out of place on McLean. Just check it out below:
Since his big announcement McLean’s hair has grown back in, giving him a much more natural looking fade. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t thinking about bringing back the Nittany Lion ‘do, particularly with a visit to Happy Valley in the offing to see the Penn State host Ohio State this weekend.
Of course, that could still happen. But after his knee surgery, McLean is clearly taking a more moderate and conservative approach focused on rehabilitation, at least for the moment.
