Jake Allen plays for one of the nation’s top high school teams, St. Thomas Aquinas, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He’s committed to a top-tier college program: Florida. And he has extraordinary strength and accuracy with his upper body alone, as he demonstrated in the video you see above.
That’s Allen completing passes from aboard a flyboard, the water hovering mechanism that is all the rage on lakes across the country. Bleacher Report set up a Allen with the flyboard and a set of targets, all of which the Florida-bound passer nailed from feet up in the air above the water. When the targets proved too easy, Allen took aim at teammate Trevon Grimes, a St. Thomas Aquinas teammate and one of the top recruits in the Class of 2017.
Just as they do on the field, Allen and Grimes immediately connected over the water, making for a solid summer fun highlight reel.
Given Bleacher Report’s past track record, this will probably be the only prospect they send out on a flyboard. If we’re lucky, it won’t be the only time we see Allen completing passes in some state of distress or well arranged gimmick, which should be more fun for everyone.
