Give Tate Martell this: He isn’t afraid to put himself out there.

The Bishop Gorman quarterback, who already has two USA TODAY Super 25 National Championships under his belt before playing a senior season, has been an Ohio State commit for less than a full month. He’s already doing his utmost to help his own future cause by recruiting the house down in an attempt to draw more talent to Columbus, and that effort includes braggadocio about the talent that has already signed up to come.

This week, that effort manifested as a Tweet in which Martell made clear his confidence in both himself and his classmates. Here’s what he said in a since deleted Tweet (no, we don’t know why he deleted it, but it sure seems to have evaporated into the ether).

I can almost guarantee that the 2017 Ohio State recruiting class will go down as the best recruiting class ever! #SELECT17

Those are some bold words, even if they are couched in the relative security of a phrase like “almost guarantee.” They’re also not necessarily incorrect. As 247 Sports recently noted, the current Ohio State class grades out as the best the rankings service has encountered. Ever.

Of course, a lot can change between now and February. More talented athletes can choose the Buckeyes. Talented athletes can choose to opt out of the Buckeyes. Heck, Martell might even have a change of heart. After all, it’s happened before (twice).

For now, the Buckeyes have a lot to crow about on the recruiting trail and in Martell, they might just have the perfect cheerleader to give the megaphone to so everyone hears their message.
