Jackson Gibbs has been considered a late-bloomer among the nation’s significant quarterback recruits. The Hough High signal caller hasn’t received the 4 or 5-star treatment from the recruiting services, and it took the intervention of his famous grandfather — Super Bowl winning coach turned NASCAR team chief Joe Gibbs — to get him serious consideration from a handful of Division I programs. Since, two of those top programs have extended him an offer, with both Michigan and Maryland lining up to vie for his future.

And yet, the Jackson Gibbs exposure tour rolls on, with the latest spot a truly noteworthy one: Passing to All-Pro quarterback Cam Newton at Newton’s 7-on-7 camp.

You can see video of the passing exchange between the superstar and son of the coach via the Charlotte Observer, above. That’s a pretty solid delivery for a passer who had drawn more questions than raves before the summer.

Whether the younger Gibbs is pushed over the top in any direction by his latest high profile highlights remains to be seen. We know he’s a fan of the Wolverines, who are fond enough of him to consider him a possible future starter in Ann Arbor. If that’s where he ends up, no one can say he hasn’t thrown to high profile receivers anymore.
