One of the nation’s top defensive end recruits has made his decision: He’s heading to join the Gig’ Em army.
Over the weekend, Mark Jackson (no, not that one), the defensive line star for Texas football powerhouse Cibolo Steele High, announced that he would attend Texas A&M, picking the Aggies over their rival Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners, among other scholarship offers. Jackson is considered one of the top weakside defensive end prospects in the nation, and he’s ranked as a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and other recruiting services.
Jackson’s pledge to the Aggies may not be a massive surprise, considering the fact that he was already using an Aggies logo in the background of his Twitter header, but his decision is still a potential recruiting game-changer among the traditional Texas collegiate powers. The Aggies and Longhorns will battle again for recruiting supremacy, with Texas Coach Charlie Strong using a full season under his belt to build his class.
This defensive end pledge is another key strike for the Aggies and coach Kevin Sumlin as they continue to compete against the SEC’s best, with an ever-stronger base from inside Texas, arguably the nation’s most talent rich recruiting ground.
