Never let it be said that Nick Saban won’t go the extra mile to impress a recruit.
During a weekend visit to Tuscaloosa, four-star wide receiver A.J. Brown found himself in the player’s lounge, with the opportunity to face off against Nick Saban in an old-fashioned game of pop-a-shot.
Yes, Nick Saban plays pop-a-shot. While wearing a purple blazer. From the looks of the video, he has pretty decent form and strategy, too. At least as good as Brown himself.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Saban has been filmed competing against a recruit in pop-a-shot, either. Late Friday night fellow super-prospect Derrick Brown also took on Saban in the arcade style hoops game. You can see that unfold right here. Note that Saban is again wearing a blazer (does the man sleep in a blazer when he’s not on the sidelines?).
Naturally, that doesn’t mean that Saban beat Brown — probably best to let the kid win if you want to keep on his good side, right? — but it does mean that Saban is willing to do whatever it takes to try and land a desired prospect, even if he’s a longshot who lives a stones throw from an SEC rival.
