Rising senior athlete prospect Bruce Judson was a prominent Ohio State commit from the state of Florida for some nine months. A turbocharged, compact 5-foot-9 and 203 pounds, Judson’s 4.41 second 40-yard dash is proof that he has speed and athleticism that makes collegiate coaches like Urban Meyer drool, particularly when it comes from a guy who lines up as both a running back and defensive end in high school. The problem is that no matter how excited Meyer was about Judson’s athleticism, the coach apparently couldn’t quite put his finger on Judson’s name.

That’s the story from the Cocoa star, who spoke to SECCountry.com about his recruitment and what pushed him away from Ohio State. He tells one heck of a story which makes it clear that all Meyer truly knew about him was his speed.

“Long story short, I was walking in the hallway about to go to the indoor field and work out. He was like, ‘Hey.’ I looked around. ‘Come here.’ He was like, ‘How you doing, you like your visit?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ Then he’s like, ‘What up Richard LeCounte? Are you showing this guy (Judson) around?’ I was like, ‘Coach, I’m showing him around.’ He asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I told him Bruce. He said, ‘Oh, Bruce Judson from Florida. The speedy guy.’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘I’m glad that you’re on board and glad you got up here.’ After that, I knew I was de-committing.”

LeCounte later committed to Georgia, and remains a fervent Bulldogs commit. As for Judson, he has plenty of other options, and still retains his scholarship offer from Ohio State. Now that we know why he walked away from Columbus, Florida, South Carolina or perhaps Alabama would sure seem like more likely landing spots at this point.
