As it turns out, there’s good news and bad news about Tagovailoa’s decision to play his college football is Tuscaloosa. The good news for Alabama fans is that Tagovailoa is one heck of a talent. The bad news? Now Alabama fans have to learn how to pronounce his name … and fast.
Fewer than two days after Tagovailoa committed to Alabama, AL.com took to campus to ask current Alabama students how they thought Tagovailoa’s name is pronounced. The results are alternatively hilarious, awkward and, quite frankly, inevitable. After all, how would the unacquainted masses know that Tagovailoa’s last name contains a hidden “N”?
Something tells us that Alabama fans will learn how to say “Two-ah” pretty quickly, if only to make good on Tagovailoa’s claim that he feels like Alabama fans offer up a Hawaiian-like sense of family. Hey, you can’t be family if you can’t pronounce the name, right?
