The college football facilities arms race continues unabated, but the big money being splashed on new training centers and bespoke uniforms may all be wasted, at least if one recruit’s highlights of his visit at Tennessee are indicative of a larger trend.
Here’s three-star linebacker recruit Colin Anderson’s takeaways from a weekend in Knoxville, as relayed to Scout.com:
“It was awesome,” Anderson said. “The football facilities were top-tier, there was a lot of money in that place. The one thing that really stood out to me was the food and how they feed you. The nutritionists there are top-notch, I hadn’t received a presentation like that. They make their own peanut butter, they’ve got chocolate milk fresh off the udder, it’s like a day old, best chocolate milk you’ve tasted, it’s insane!
“I’m a milk guy, so it was awesome.”
The Brooks High standout also holds scholarship offers from in-state Alabama and Michigan, among others, so it’s no sure thing that he will choose to land in Knoxville. If he does, there’s no question that chocolate milk, “fresh off the udder,” will be a significant factor.
It’s yet another first in a wild spring in the recruiting news cycle. Milk: It does a recruiting coordinator good!
