Jake Fromm is expected to be a major difference maker in collegiate football. He proved that he was always one in prep baseball during his final game on a diamond.
As reported by the Macon Telegraph, Fromm keyed an offensive explosion by Houston County in a 12-0, state title-clinching victory against Loganville. Fromm’s homer — which reportedly snuck just inside the foul pole — lifted Houston County to a 4-0 lead. From there it was all HoCo, with the Bears adding eight more runs to cap a mercy rule victory at the conclusion of the fifth inning.
For Fromm, the victory capped a miraculous youth baseball career which included two high school state titles in three years to go along with an appearance in the Little League World Series.
“It’s just incredible,” Fromm told the Telegraph. “Growing up, I’ve played so much baseball with these guys, and honestly this one means more than the one my freshman year because I was a role player. This year just means so much to me, my family and my teammates. It’s unbelievable.
“I’m going to miss baseball. I’ve played it my entire life. I used to be a baseball player and I rarely thought about football, but it’s great to go out with a bang.”
