Chauncey Gardner is a very confident recruit. In fact, he’s pretty confident that he will singlehandedly turn the fortunes of Florida’s football program.
As noted by College Spun, Gardner has been facing a multitude of doubters who have questioned his decision to head to Gainesville after the Gators’ pair of losing seasons. He’s less than concerned. In fact, he seems to have identified the solution to the program’s problems.
Gardner, a top running back recruit from Cocoa Beach, Fla., set out his analysis of the haters and their apparent oversight in this tweet:
Yup, you read that right. In addition to sharing his name with the lead character of the 1979 Peter Sellers cinematic classic Being There, Gardner is determined that he will take the Gators to the promised land, one carry at a time.
Will he be proven correct? Time will tell. He’s certainly already been proven confident, and that can only help Florida land more recruits like himself in the months ahead.
